Body Work & Biomechanics
Masterson Technique and Reiki Energy Healing
The Masterson Method® is a unique, interactive form of equine bodywork that uses the horse’s subtle responses to release tension and improve performance. Unlike traditional massage, this method encourages the horse to actively participate in the process, allowing for deeper, more lasting releases in key areas such as the poll, neck, shoulders, and hindquarters.
Through gentle touch and movement, the Masterson Method® helps increase flexibility, relieve stress, and enhance both physical and emotional well-being. It’s especially effective for performance horses, aiding in injury prevention, recovery, and overall athletic function.
In addition to the Masterson Method®, I also incorporate Reiki therapy—a gentle, energy-based healing technique that supports relaxation, balance, and emotional harmony. Reiki complements bodywork by promoting deeper calm and encouraging the horse’s natural healing processes. Together, these methods offer a holistic approach to equine wellness, helping your horse feel and perform their best.
Equine Sports Massage Therapy (ESMT)
Equine Sports Massage Therapy (ESMT) is a hands-on technique designed to support and enhance a horse’s physical well-being, especially in athletic and performance settings. By targeting specific muscle groups used during training and competition, ESMT helps increase circulation, relieve tension, improve muscle tone, and boost flexibility and range of motion.
Regular massage sessions can improve performance, aid in injury prevention, and support rehabilitation by addressing muscle imbalances and promoting healing. Additionally, ESMT can help reduce stress and encourage relaxation, particularly in high-pressure environments like competitions.
Practitioners are trained and certified in a range of techniques—including deep tissue work, stretching, and trigger point therapy—ensuring safe and effective treatment tailored to each horse’s needs.
Equine sports massage is a powerful tool for keeping horses healthy, comfortable, and performing at their best.
Equine Biomechanical Assessment & Exercise
Equine biomechanical assessment is a detailed evaluation of a horse’s movement, posture, and musculoskeletal function to identify imbalances, restrictions, or asymmetries that may affect performance or lead to injury. By analyzing how a horse moves both in hand and under saddle, we can pinpoint areas of weakness, tension, or compensation.
Based on this assessment, a customized exercise program is developed to address specific issues—whether its improving core strength, flexibility, balance, or coordination. These targeted exercises support healthy movement patterns, enhance performance, and reduce the risk of injury.
Biomechanical assessment and corrective exercise are ideal for horses in all disciplines, whether in training, returning from injury, or simply needing support for optimal function and comfort. This approach offers a proactive, evidence-based path to long-term soundness and performance.
